The inaugural Siena Legends basketball game was held Thursday, July 19 at Alumni Recreation Center where more than 2,000 fans came out to support their favorite Saints.
The game saw 30 of Siena’s most accomplished players square off in a thrilling 40-minute exhibition. Current Harlem Globetrotter Tay Fisher delighted the crowd and earned MVP honors as he led all players with 17 points.
“I’ve had dreams about playing in games again here and now that it is happening it is surreal,” Andy Cavo ’02 said.
The night included several memorable moments. At one point, Kenny Hasbrouck ’09, Marc Brown ’91 and Billy Harrell ’52 were brought out to the court to be recognized as the only players in program history to have their jersey numbers retired.
The highlight of the night was the pre-game meet and greet. Siena Legends spent close to an hour mingling with supporters and signing memorabilia.
After the game, a VIP reception was held at the New Hall, and the following day Siena Legends headed to Saratoga to bond and enjoy Opening Day at historic Saratoga Race Course.
